Renowned actor Patrick Oketch, widely recognized for his portrayal of Charlie in the popular television program “Mother in Law” broadcasted on Citizen TV, recently disclosed the reasons behind his departure from the show and shed light on his role as an alcoholic character.
During an interview with Lynne Ngugi, Charlie revealed that after dedicating 12 years to acting on “Mother in Law” and even serving as a scriptwriter for a period, he made the decision to step away. The primary motivation behind his departure stemmed from feelings of undervaluation, as he believed his contributions were not adequately acknowledged or appreciated. Despite going above and beyond to enhance the show’s quality, he observed no corresponding recognition in his remuneration.
Charlie, alongside Selina, renowned as Kate Actress, once held the spotlight as the iconic figures of “Mother in Law.” Their exceptional talents contributed significantly to the series’ allure, with Charlie notably portraying the character of a drunkard uncle.
Interestingly, despite convincingly playing the role of an alcoholic on screen, Charlie has never consumed alcohol or engaged in drug use in his real life. He emphasized that his ability to convincingly portray the character was a testament to his acting prowess. Even off-screen, some individuals still erroneously perceive him as an alcoholic. In reality, he is a responsible family man, ensuring his family’s well-being and consistently being a pillar of support for them.
