Trizah Njeri, the estranged wife of popular Kikuyu musician and philanthropist Karangu wa Muraya, has found herself in the limelight following their highly publicized and emotional separation.
The situation escalated after Karangu officially introduced his second wife, Carol Kim, and went all out on Valentine’s Day, showering her with lavish gifts and a bouquet of flowers—a move that didn’t sit well with Trizah.
After enduring a long period of emotional strain, Trizah publicly announced her decision to leave the marriage, revealing that she had battled with the decision for a while. In a heartfelt TikTok video, the mother of three broke down in tears, admitting she had been struggling with depression and had even sought medical attention. She accused Karangu of being the source of her emotional pain.
Her emotional cry was heard by TikToker Essy Wanjiku, who rushed Trizah to the hospital and later appealed to Edday Nderitu—estranged wife of musician Samidoh—for help. Wanjiku requested that Edday assist in helping Trizah relocate to the United States for a fresh start.
Meanwhile, Karangu attempted to reach out and reconcile. In a video posted on social media, he pleaded with Trizah to think of their children and urged the public to stop criticizing him. So far, Trizah has remained silent and has not publicly responded.
In a powerful show of online solidarity, another TikToker, Esther Baumbach, took to the platform to raise funds for Trizah. Her campaign successfully raised over KSh 600,000 out of a KSh 3 million target, all within just three days.
“One of my close friends has pledged KSh 100,000, and I’ll be delivering it tomorrow,” Baumbach announced.
Part of the funds will go toward helping Trizah launch a new business. She revealed that her first venture will be in fashion—selling shoes and clothing. Donations from her supporters will be used to purchase inventory, including bales of shoes and clothes.
“She’ll get a bale of shoes worth KSh 20,000, and another one pledged by Rish Kamunge. We’ll also include a bale of clothes,” Esther confirmed.
Supporters also gifted her a brand-new Samsung Galaxy S25, worth KSh 30,000, which she will use to manage business communications and stay in touch with donors and suppliers.
The ultimate highlight? A fully funded trip to Dubai awaits her—an extravagant vacation planned once she secures her passport. Baumbach promised to personally cover the flight and visa costs.
Despite everything, Karangu hasn’t lost hope. He remains optimistic about a possible reconciliation.
“One day, my wife and I will resolve our issues. Trizah, please come back home so we can talk,” he pleaded.
