Tanzanian singer and Konde Music Worldwide CEO, Harmonize, has issued a heartfelt apology to his fans and fellow citizens over his past political stance. Speaking openly, the award-winning artist expressed regret for supporting the ruling party, CCM, saying his intentions were never to offend anyone.
“Ningependa kuomba raia na mashabiki zangu ndani ya Tanzania msamaha. Sikuwa na lengo la kuwakwaza kwa kussuport serikali ya CCM, kuna mambo tumefanya kwa kutojua na sasa hivi tunajutia,” Harmonize said, acknowledging that some of his actions were driven by misunderstanding and lack of awareness.
The musician’s apology comes amid growing public debate over celebrities’ involvement in politics, especially during election periods. In recent years, several Tanzanian artists have faced criticism for aligning themselves with political parties, with fans accusing them of abandoning neutrality and using their influence for political gain.
Harmonize’s statement marks a moment of reflection and humility. He admitted that his previous political engagements may have been misguided and promised to focus more on uniting his fans rather than dividing them along political lines.
Many of his followers have praised the move, describing it as a sign of maturity and accountability, while others have questioned the timing of the apology, suggesting it could be an attempt to rebuild his public image.
Regardless of public opinion, Harmonize’s words reveal a personal transformation and a deeper understanding of the impact celebrities have on society. His apology could also serve as a lesson to other artists to think carefully about the consequences of mixing entertainment with politics.
