Controversial preacher Pastor Ezekiel Odero has shocked many after revealing that he narrowly escaped death in the tragic Diani plane crash that claimed the lives of all passengers on board. Speaking to his congregation, Pastor Ezekiel said he had initially booked flight tickets for himself and his wife but later felt a strong spiritual warning not to proceed with the trip.
“Niliambia mke wangu hatutafika tukienda na hiyo ndege, tutatokea kwa breaking news,” the preacher recalled, meaning, “I told my wife we won’t make it if we take that plane; we’ll appear in breaking news.”
According to Pastor Ezekiel, the inner conviction to cancel the flight was not an ordinary feeling but a divine message from God. He said he immediately followed the prompting, deciding to postpone their journey — a move that ultimately saved their lives.
The Diani-bound aircraft later crashed, leaving no survivors and plunging the nation into mourning. Pastor Ezekiel’s account has since drawn mixed reactions across the country. While many of his followers see the incident as proof of divine intervention and God’s protection over his life, critics argue that such claims exploit tragedy for personal glorification.
This is not the first time the New Life Prayer Centre leader has made statements linking his life experiences to divine warnings or miracles. Over the years, Pastor Ezekiel has built a reputation as a charismatic preacher who attracts large crowds through his powerful sermons and controversial prophecies.
Whether viewed as a miraculous escape or a coincidence, Pastor Ezekiel’s revelation adds a dramatic twist to an already heartbreaking national tragedy. His story continues to spark debate on faith, fate, and the mysterious ways in which some people claim to be spared from disaster.
