The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services has disbursed Ksh. 1,783,568,000 to facilitate the June and July 2025 payments under the Inua Jamii programme targeting orphans and vulnerable children.
Principal Secretary for the State Department for Children Services, Carren Ageng’o, confirmed that 445,940 beneficiaries will receive the funds. Each household will get Ksh. 4,000, equivalent to Ksh. 2,000 per month for the two months, through contracted payment service providers.
Ageng’o noted that the delay in disbursement was caused by realignment processes within the ministry. She emphasized that the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) programme plays a key role in strengthening government interventions on child protection.
“The CT-OVC Programme is designed to encourage fostering and retention of orphans and vulnerable children within their families and communities, while supporting their human capital development,” she said.
The initiative focuses on boosting school enrolment and transition, improving health and nutrition, enhancing household food security, and strengthening child protection systems.
This comes just a month after Social Services and Senior Citizen Affairs Principal Secretary Joseph Motari announced the release of Ksh. 4.6 billion for Inua Jamii beneficiaries covering the same June–July 2025 cycle.
