Francis Gachuri, a seasoned political reporter and former political analyst at Citizen TV, has left his position after 16 years of service to take up a new role in the government. He has been appointed as the Secretary of Strategic Communications at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki.
During his time at Citizen TV, Gachuri was a key member of the weekly political analysis show called News Gang and was promoted to a senior political analyst and reporter in 2018. He also worked as a news presenter for Inooro TV, a subsidiary of Royal Media Services, hosting the programme Kiririmbi.
In an emotional farewell to his colleagues during a weekly editorial team meeting on Wednesday morning, Gachuri expressed his gratitude to the owners of the company, including chairman SK Macharia, Vice-Chair Mrs Macharia, and MD Wachira Waruru, as well as other directors such as Linus Kaikai, Fred Afune, Latifah Ngunjiri, Moses Karanja, Micheal Ngugi, and Carol Wanyama for their support throughout his career. Gachuri will be leaving Citizen TV at the end of the week to take up his new government position.
