Content Creator Brian Chira Released on Ksh 50,000 Cash Bail

Kenyan content creator Brian Chira Wambui has been granted release on a cash bail of Ksh 50,000, after appearing before the Principal Magistrate Renee Kitagwa at the Kibera Law courts today.

Chira is facing charges of cyber harassment, specifically for allegedly defaming TikTok Queen and radio host, Azziad Nasenya, through his TikTok account.

Despite the accusations, Brian Chira vehemently denied the charges brought against him. The case has been scheduled for mention on September 12.

The incident leading to his arrest occurred when Chira posted a video on social media, where he not only used offensive language against Azziad Nasenya but also went as far as sharing her personal phone number during a live session on TikTok.

In response to this, Azziad and her legal team decided to take legal action to combat online harassment. Her lawyer revealed that she had been inundated with a barrage of insults, offensive messages, and calls from unidentified individuals, which understandably caused distress and discomfort.

With the computer misuse and cybercrime act available to protect against such behavior, Azziad Nasenya chose to seek legal redress to put an end to the online harassment she had been enduring for the past week.
