Rose Atieno, a TikTok influencer originally from Kenya but currently residing in Germany and widely recognized as Nyako, recently expressed her dismay over the sudden closure of her bank account, which she primarily used to receive income from her TikTok activities.
In a video that circulated online during the past weekend, Nyako appeared visibly distressed, lamenting her inability to access the account for essential transactions and bill payments. She voiced her confusion, unsure about the origin of the issue and who might be responsible for the closure.
Nyako speculated that her predicament could be linked to someone reporting her to government tax authorities due to the substantial income she earns from TikTok without paying taxes. In her emotional statement, she disclosed the challenges she faced in fulfilling her financial obligations, including taxes and insurance, as the funds in her closed account were inaccessible.
“My bank account has been closed. I can’t access it. It’s blocked. I don’t know who wrote what to the government this time. I have to pay my taxes from TikTok. I have to pay my insurance from TikTok. That money has been taken. I don’t even know where to start at this point. I don’t know what to ask,” she expressed.
Nyako went on to reveal that the same individuals who had disrupted her TikTok-related income might be the ones responsible for a previous incident where she lost her job. She recounted a situation where someone wrote a letter to her workplace, leading to her abrupt job loss within 24 hours.
“The same people who made me lose my job. I used to go to work. I used to wake up very early like everyone else and go to work. I was very content and happy with my job until those same people on TikTok gathered to deny me the right to go to work. Someone wrote a letter to my workplace. And I lost my job within 24 hours,” she explained.
This development follows a recent public dispute between Nyako and entrepreneur Akothee on the TikTok platform, where both accused each other of imitation. Akothee experienced initial repercussions, with TikTok temporarily suspending her account, and Nyako subsequently revealed the closure of her bank account linked to TikTok income.
