In the state of Alabama, USA, a Catholic priest named Alex Crow, aged 30, has allegedly entered into matrimony with an 18-year-old girl who eloped with him to Italy. As per the marriage certificate filed in Mobile County on Monday, the union took place after the young lady graduated from high school in 2023. The document reveals that she had recently turned 18 in June. The girl was a student at McGill-Toolen Catholic High, where Crow was a frequent visitor to theology classes.
The romantic involvement between the priest and the young woman became public knowledge when authorities discovered a love letter sent by Crow on Valentine’s Day while she was still a student. Following their European sojourn over the summer, the couple returned to the United States earlier this month, as reported by AL.com.
In light of these developments, Crow, who has already been suspended, may have delivered his final sermon, according to Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi. The Archbishop expressed his judgment on the matter, stating, “The recent news of Crow’s civil marriage only confirms the Archbishop’s judgment. Archbishop Rodi hopes that the Vatican will finally depose Alex Crow,” as mentioned in a statement from the Archdiocese of Simu.
In a previous statement, Rodi criticized Crow’s actions, deeming them “absolutely unbecoming of a priest.” He further conveyed that Crow had been informed by the archbishop that he is no longer permitted to serve as a priest, identify as a priest, or attire himself in priestly garb.
