A Chinese national who was recently caught on video assaulting a Kenyan worker has been dismissed from his job and is now facing deportation, authorities have confirmed.
The incident, which went viral on social media, sparked outrage across the country, with many Kenyans demanding swift action against the perpetrator. In the footage, the foreign worker is seen physically attacking his Kenyan colleague, prompting widespread condemnation.
Following an internal investigation, the employer terminated the Chinese national’s employment, citing gross misconduct and violation of labor laws. Immigration authorities have since initiated procedures to deport him from Kenya.
Labor and human rights groups have applauded the quick response, saying it sends a strong message that workplace violence and mistreatment of local employees will not be tolerated.
The Kenyan government continues to urge employers to uphold workers’ rights and to ensure foreign employees respect local labor laws. Meanwhile, the victim has reportedly received support and counseling following the assault.
This case has reignited discussions about the treatment of Kenyan workers by foreign employers and the need for stricter enforcement of labor regulations in workplaces across the country.
