William Ruto, the Deputy President, welcomed Nadia as a beloved member of his family, giving her the name Cherono in honor of his late mother. Nadia’s remarkable journey began in tragic circumstances, abandoned as a newborn and laid to rest in Machakos.
The Deputy President shared the poignant story of how Nadia’s life took a miraculous turn. Forsaken at birth, she was discovered by compassionate nuns in an advanced state of decomposition and brought to the Ippolita Children’s Home five years ago. “I was deeply touched by Nadia’s story,” he recounted. “A child abandoned at birth, rescued by the kind-hearted nuns of Madre Ippolita Children’s Home, and given a chance at life. It was then that I decided to name her Cherono, in memory of my late mother, and embrace her as part of my family.”

The heartwarming story of Nadia Cherono, the adopted daughter of Deputy President William Ruto, has deeply moved many Kenyans. Recent photographs of Nadia reveal a thriving, cheerful young girl who has become an integral part of the Ruto family.

Nadia is one of six children in the Ruto household, which includes Nick Ruto, June Ruto, Stephanie Ruto, Charlene Chelagat Ruto, and George Kimutai Ruto. During the recent General Elections, Nadia accompanied Ruto to the Bomas of Kenya, where he was officially declared the president-elect.
On this historic occasion, Ruto’s wife, Rachel, walked gracefully by his side, exuding elegance as she held his hand. The couple wore matching white and yellow outfits, while young Nadia, dressed in her simple school uniform, added an endearing touch to the moment.

Rachel complemented her look with a yellow necklace and earrings, her hair styled in a charming afro. She radiated pride and joy, standing as a steadfast supporter of her husband’s campaign. Rachel played a pivotal role in mobilizing women voters, proving to be a valuable asset to Ruto’s journey to the presidency.
