“Mamake Alimwacha”: Nairobi Neighbours Rescue 4-Year-Old Boy Locked In, Beaten and Injured by Dad

A four-year-old boy from South B, Nairobi, has been rescued from severe and sustained abuse reportedly inflicted by his father. The child, identified as Rash, is now safe after intervention by concerned neighbours and Nairobi county official Geoffrey Mosiria.

According to residents, Rash had endured months of daily beatings and neglect, sparking outrage and renewed calls for stronger child protection systems. A neighbour revealed that she had alerted the local nyumba kumi elder on three separate occasions, hoping authorities would act before the situation escalated.

Neighbours said Rash’s mother, a Ugandan national, had initially left the home after a dispute with her husband and, despite returning briefly, ultimately abandoned the child, leaving him under his father’s care. During the day, the father reportedly locked Rash inside the house while leaving for work, exposing the boy to both neglect and repeated physical abuse.

The situation came to a head when a neighbour recorded video evidence of Rash’s condition and shared it with Mosiria. Upon viewing the footage, Mosiria immediately went to the scene, finding the boy in a visibly poor state, with swollen eyes and multiple injuries consistent with prolonged abuse.

Rash was taken to a police station for formal reporting before being rushed to Mbagathi Hospital for urgent medical attention. Following treatment, he was placed in a secure children’s home to ensure his safety and well-being.

Mosiria condemned the abuse and urged the National Police Service to arrest the suspect, identified as Selvester Onyambu, and ensure he faces the full force of the law.
