In an unexpected turn of events, the groom, Amos Rono, who was set to wed Nelly Chepkoech in Kapsoyo, Bomet County, on Saturday, has now publicly addressed the cancellation of the ceremony. The 30-year-old Rono has declared that he is no longer proceeding with his plans to marry Chepkoech, shedding light on the reasons behind this decision. Rono has accused Chepkoech of lacking trustworthiness and keeping him in the dark about her true feelings.
Rono elucidated that his choice to call off the wedding was prompted by Chepkoech’s lack of sincerity. According to him, she chose to disclose her involvement with another man and her hesitations about marrying him only at the last moment. Expressing his disappointment, Rono explained, “I’ve called off my plans to marry Nelly Chepkoech because of her lack of sincerity. She only revealed at the eleventh hour that she was in a relationship with another man and hadn’t fully committed to marrying me.”
On Thursday afternoon, Chepkoech informed Reverend Reuben Koech, the Tenwek Area Director of Africa Gospel Church, that she was not prepared to go through with the wedding. Rono clarified that the claim of the church postponing the wedding was inaccurate, and it was Chepkoech who initiated the decision through a text message to the Reverend.
Speaking from his home in Kapsoyo to The Standard, Rono disclosed that Chepkoech initially cited her youth and unreadiness to settle down. However, during an emergency meeting convened by the presiding Reverend, she admitted to having another man in her life and uncertainty about marrying Rono.
