Senator Boni Khalwale has stirred controversy after accusing Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya of allegedly engaging in an affair with Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda — claims that have ignited heated debate in political and social circles.
Allegations of Marriage Interference
According to Khalwale, Muhanda — who also serves in a senior capacity within Oparanya’s office — reportedly abandoned her matrimonial home shortly after the CS’s Cabinet appointment and is alleged to have secretly moved in with him.
Her estranged husband has accused Oparanya of exploiting his influence and position to interfere with their marriage.
Khalwale Goes Public
Khalwale has since gone public with the claims, accusing Oparanya of what he termed as “immoral and unbecoming conduct” for a senior government official.
Neither Oparanya nor Muhanda has publicly responded to the allegations.
Political Storm Brewing
The accusations come at a time of heightened political tension in Kakamega, with rival camps already seizing on the claims to either defend or attack the two leaders.
