Alma Mutheu, one of Kenya’s most well-known TikTok creators, has shared how she has turned the platform into a lucrative source of income, earning millions. TikTok has completely transformed her life, and she now relies on it as her primary source of livelihood.
In an interview with Obinna, Alma revealed that she began using TikTok in 2019, initially just for fun. However, in 2020, one of her videos went viral, leading to a surge in followers and likes.
Recognizing the potential of the platform, Alma decided to drop out of university, where she had been studying English Literature, to focus entirely on TikTok. Although her mother was not supportive of this decision, Alma was determined to succeed.
Her popularity on TikTok continued to grow, and she began going live, receiving gifts from her followers. These gifts, along with others sent via her viral videos, have earned her over Ksh. 2 million so far. Alma noted that TikTok is a lucrative platform, with some users even purchasing cars and houses from their earnings. Currently, she boasts over 500,000 followers and more than 15 million likes on the platform.
