Tanzanian Bongo artist Alikiba has issued a response subsequent to a request from Diamond Platnumz for him to perform at the upcoming Wasafi Festival.
In a media interaction, Diamond Platnumz discussed the origins of the Wasafi Festival, tracing its beginnings to Mtwara. He recounted how his inaugural musical performance took place in Mtwara alongside Alikiba, an experience he held in high regard. The significance of Mtwara was underscored when the first edition of the Wasafi festival was staged there, and the first artist they signed under their label, Harmonize, also hails from Mtwara, achieving notable success.
Diamond Platnumz expressed his willingness to collaborate with Alikiba once more for the Wasafi Festival, despite already working closely with Alikiba’s brother, Abduba. He revealed a conversation with Abduba Kiba regarding the possibility of releasing a joint song before the festival’s commencement. Diamond emphasized that if Alikiba, Abduba’s brother, approved, they would be delighted to share the stage and collaborate. He acknowledged that accommodating Alikiba’s busy schedule might necessitate careful planning, but even a single show with Alikiba’s participation would be cherished.
In response, Alikiba conveyed that he had not received prior notice about the festival invitation, citing his ongoing engagements as the reason he cannot partake in the event.
Alikiba firmly stated, “I am currently engaged in my own endeavors,” as he communicated with Tanzanian media outlets.
He clarified that he harbored no objections to Diamond Platnumz collaborating with his sibling, Abdul Kina, highlighting their artistic freedom to collaborate with any individual of their choosing.
In recent times, Alikiba and Diamond Platnumz have reignited their rivalry, utilizing social media platforms to exchange criticisms.
Alikiba maintained that Diamond Platnumz should invest in refining his production team and vocal skills in order to enhance the quality of his musical releases. He also suggested that Diamond harbored jealousy and unease whenever another artist achieved a hit song.
Diamond Platnumz countered by accusing Alikiba of neglecting his brother, Abduba Kiba, insinuating that artists signed under Alikiba’s record label tend to depart due to a lack of support.
