Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko sparked reactions after making bold remarks about his party’s financial muscle during a public appearance.
Speaking at an event, Sonko said, “Tungetaka kununua kura, tungenunua. Angalia pesa ya chama iko hapa na hii sio ya wash wash,” loosely translating to, “If we wanted to buy votes, we would. Look at the party’s money here, and it’s not from illegal dealings.”
He made the comments while displaying what he described as the financial strength of the National Economic Development Party (NEDP), drawing laughter and mixed reactions from supporters.
