Political temperatures continue to rise after Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, popularly known as “Omosh One Hour,” delivered fiery remarks urging firm party discipline within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In his statement, the legislator called on Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga to issue clear direction against members who, in his view, have benefited from ODM’s support but are now acting contrary to the party’s position. He argued that leaders who rise through a party’s backing should remain loyal to its ideals and decisions.
Omosh emphasized that he remains committed to following the party leadership, noting that he previously aligned himself with party leader Raila Odinga and now stands firmly behind Oburu’s guidance. His comments underscored a call for unity and cohesion at a time when internal disagreements have become increasingly public.
While his language was passionate, political observers note that maintaining party discipline typically involves structured internal mechanisms such as dialogue, caucus meetings, and established disciplinary processes rather than confrontational approaches.
The remarks highlight ongoing debates within ODM over loyalty, coalition strategy, and engagement with the government led by President William Ruto. As alliances shift and negotiations continue, questions of unity and party identity remain central to Kenya’s evolving political dynamics.
