Political analyst Herman Manyora has ignited national debate after boldly claiming that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is the only politician capable of filling the shoes of the late Raila Odinga. Speaking with conviction, Manyora argued that ODM’s future strength and vibrancy depend on a generational transition led by youthful, energetic leaders.
Manyora stated:
“Only Babu Owino can fit in the shoes of the late Raila Odinga. And for ODM to remain vibrant and powerful like when Raila was alive, Babu and Sifuna must take over ODM party leadership.”
According to Manyora, Babu Owino possesses the charisma, fearlessness, and political stamina required to carry forward Raila Odinga’s legacy. He noted that Babu has demonstrated unmatched courage in national politics and has cultivated a strong following among young Kenyans, making him a natural heir to the party’s top leadership.
He further emphasized that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna—known for his eloquence, organizational ability, and grassroots appeal—should serve alongside Babu to restore and maintain ODM’s dominance. Manyora argued that the duo represents the next frontier of political leadership, capable of revitalizing ODM and reconnecting it with Kenya’s youthful population.
His comments triggered mixed reactions online and across political circles. Supporters praised the idea, saying the party needs fresh blood and dynamic leadership to survive in a rapidly changing political environment. Critics, however, dismissed the suggestion as premature or overly dramatic.
Nevertheless, Manyora’s message was unmistakable: if ODM wants to remain strong, relevant, and influential in the post-Raila era, it must embrace a new generation—one led by Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna.
