Drama unfolded in court after Kibra MP Peter Orero’s driver broke down while defending himself against charges related to reckless driving and verbal abuse toward a traffic officer.
The visibly emotional driver told the court that he was only obeying instructions from his boss, claiming the MP ordered him to use the wrong side of the road because he was in a hurry.
“Sielewi mbona ni mimi nimeletwa kotini na mimi nilikuwa nafuata masharti ya boss wangu. Yeye ndio alisema tupite wrong side, sababu yeye ni VIP na alikuwa na haraka,” the driver lamented.
He further distanced himself from allegations that he insulted a traffic officer during the incident.
“Hata sio mimi niliitana takataka, lakini mimi ndio niko kizimbani sababu ya kufanya kazi yangu tu,” he added tearfully.
The case has sparked public debate, with many Kenyans questioning the accountability of VIPs whose employees often bear the brunt of their actions.
