Charles Odongo, better known as Ugali Man, is a familiar name to many Kenyans. He gained widespread attention in 2021 after eating 5kg of Ugali in one sitting, setting a new record in Kenya.
Before his rise to fame, Ugali Man faced numerous challenges and struggled to make ends meet. He lived in a Mabati house in Kware, Eastlands, and worked at various building and construction sites, but was not guaranteed work every day. As a result, he often went without a proper meal or even had to go to bed hungry. The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic only made matters worse.
In a recent interview with Mungai Eve, Ugali Man revealed that he started a local gym as a form of recreation when there were no jobs available. It was never meant to be a source of income, but instead a way to pass the time.
However, everything changed after he recorded a video of himself eating and pressing Ugali. The video quickly went viral on social media and he became a household name. Brands started reaching out to him, and eventually, Odibet approached him with a life-changing offer.
Odibet signed him as a brand influencer and provided him with a whopping 5 million Kenyan shillings, a multimillion-dollar gym in Rongai, and a tour van. This opportunity transformed Ugali Man’s life and allowed him to live a lavish lifestyle. He now eats seven meals a day, his children attend top schools, and he is thriving.
