i.
According to reports, the officer was part of a security team screening vehicles entering the highly protected premises when an unidentified man approached, dressed like a street vendor, and demanded to be allowed entry into the compound.
The officers on duty turned him away, but instead of leaving, the man reportedly hid beside one of the vehicles being inspected. Moments later, he pulled out an arrow from a bag he was carrying and shot at one of the officers, hitting him in the chest.
The injured officer, identified as Constable Ramadhan Mattanka, was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Police officers at the scene quickly subdued and arrested the suspect, who was later identified as a 56-year-old man. During interrogation at Pangani Police Station, the suspect claimed that “Satan sent him to kill the officer.”
Authorities have since launched a full investigation to determine the actual motive behind the shocking incident.
Kenyans across the country have sent their heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of the late Constable Mattanka, who died while bravely serving the nation.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
