Residents of Chyandulu Village, Makueni County, were left in shock after a 29-year-old man allegedly mutilated his private parts in a bizarre incident.
According to police, the man reportedly used a sharp object to cut off his penis on Wednesday, October 1, under unclear circumstances.
His 70-year-old father told police that he and another son heard the victim crying before finding him bleeding heavily. They immediately raised an alarm and took him to hospital.
Doctors at the facility confirmed that the man had severed his genitals and said efforts to save him were ongoing.
Police have launched investigations to establish the motive behind the shocking act.

In a separate incident, a herdsman was seriously injured during a livestock raid in Buuri, Meru County.
Police said armed attackers shot the victim in the neck before driving away with more than 100 animals.
The injured man was rushed to hospital as police launched a manhunt for the suspects.
