Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School has been indefinitely closed following the tragic death of a 14-year-old Grade 9 student on Saturday, August 30.
The student was discovered in the dormitory with deep cuts on his neck and heavy bleeding. Preliminary investigations revealed traces of blood in the boys’ toilet and at the clothesline area. He was rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
The incident has sparked shock and tension within the school and the surrounding community. Parents and residents have raised serious concerns about lax security, demanding answers on the whereabouts of school staff at the time of the killing. Questions have also been raised about the school’s safety measures and accountability.
Narok County Education Director, Apollo Apuko, confirmed the closure, stating that the matter had been handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for a thorough probe. He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
The community remains in mourning, seeking justice and assurances that such an incident will not recur. The school’s closure serves as a reminder of the need for stringent security measures in educational institutions to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
