Peter Oyuka, an 84-year-old man from Makale village, was left heartbroken after returning home nearly five decades later only to discover that his two wives had remarried. Oyuka, who vanished in 1974 at the age of 37, came back after 47 years expecting to reunite with his family but was disappointed that his wives had moved on with other men.
Speaking to local media, the old man lamented that his wives could not wait for him all those years, admitting he had hoped they would still acknowledge him and make time for him after his return. Ironically, during his long absence, Oyuka lived in Tanzania where he started another relationship and even fathered a child, yet he still expected his original wives to remain faithful.
His story has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans. While some criticized the wives for giving up too soon, others found humor in the situation, pointing out the double standards in relationships.
