Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati has opened up about his long-standing fallout with his elder sister, revealing that they have not been on good terms for over eight years.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Bahati explained that the tension began when he decided to marry his now-wife, Diana Marua. According to the artist, his sister was strongly opposed to the relationship from the start, which caused a major rift between them.
Bahati claimed that his sister did not approve of Diana and allegedly went to great lengths to try and discourage the union. He recounted an incident where he lost some money before a show, only to later discover that the funds may have been used to pay a self-proclaimed prophet to speak negatively about Diana.
“After leaving some money before going for a show, I came back and found it missing. Later, I realized it had been used to bring a prophet who claimed Diana was not genuine. Ironically, I was with Diana at the time the money went missing, so the claims didn’t add up,” Bahati said.
The singer said this event was the turning point, leading him to distance himself from his sister. While they occasionally communicate—mainly when she needs financial help—their relationship remains strained, and they rarely see each other.
Bahati concluded by saying that despite the tension, he has chosen peace and continues to focus on his family and music career.
