Amidst relentless heavy rains, numerous families find themselves displaced, while countless others are stranded in their inundated homes across various regions of the country. Bomet and Migori counties, in particular, grapple with the aftermath of impassable roads and submerged vital infrastructure due to flooding.

This precarious situation unfolds against the backdrop of a severe weather advisory affecting 43 counties, urging Kenyan citizens to exercise heightened caution.

In Chimwabei village, Bomet County, the fierce winds accompanying the rainfall on Saturday plunged the area into darkness, toppling electricity poles and causing structural damage to homes, including Stephen Gibore’s, whose account underscores the widespread impact.

Similarly, in Migori County, Aneko village faced isolation as floodwaters ravaged the roads, inflicting significant losses, especially among local fishmongers, as recounted by Jessica Achieng’.

The gravity of the situation is further emphasized by Brian Ochieng’, a resident of Aneko, who highlights the health risks and calls for urgent governmental intervention.

This devastation coincides with the Kenya Meteorological Department’s forecast of continued heavy rains spanning five days across numerous counties, with coastal areas bracing for intensified rainfall. Responding to the crisis, the Kenya Red Cross has initiated a rescue operation in Konkona, Tana River County, where floods have wrought havoc.
