In the Mjengo area of Nyeri county, a woman recently initiated divorce proceedings against her newly wedded husband, citing an unusual reason. Local reports indicate that the marriage dissolution was sought due to the husband’s exceptionally large genitalia.
This housewife and mother of three decided to end her marriage, just one week after the legal union took place in accordance with Kenyan law. Her decision stemmed from her assertion that her husband’s oversized manhood made their intimate relations unbearable.
The woman, who had entered into this marriage following the breakdown of her previous one, adhered to a local tradition where she moved into her husband’s parents’ house before settling into their own home. However, it was only when the couple engaged in sexual activity that the woman claimed her distress began.
Expressing her grievances in court, she stated, “It’s strange; I can no longer enjoy sex with him. His manhood is unbearable; it’s too big for me. I can’t do this anymore.” The legal court, recognizing her plea, granted the divorce after a brief week of marriage.
Following their initial intimate encounter, the woman confided in her mother, who provided her with medication in an attempt to alleviate the situation. Despite her mother’s advice to endure and wait for improvement, the woman found no relief.
Claiming that their subsequent attempts at sexual intimacy were too painful and unsuccessful even with medication, the woman insisted on ending the marriage. The court, sympathetic to her plight, approved the divorce.
Interestingly, the husband did not contest the accusations. Instead, he expressed willingness to dissolve the union on the condition that his dowry and the money spent during the courtship were promptly returned in full. This unusual case sheds light on the complexities that can arise in marital relationships and the diverse reasons leading to their dissolution.
