Kenya’s top radio presenters earn millions of dollars each month as they drive their various radio shows beyond the clouds.

The radio station owners understand the multitudes these presenters hold in their armpits and will go to any length to keep them in their portfolios, including paying them exorbitant salaries.

1. Jeff Koinange

 Jeff Koinange is the host of Hot 96 radio. He is said to have inked a mouth-watering deal for the job when he switched to Citizen TV, where part of his new job description included signing up for radio.

At the time, a local newspaper reported that his monthly salary was Sh2 million. His extensive experience at CNN and NBC, as well as the popularity of his TV show Jeff Koinange Live, brought in the perks when it counted.

2. Maina Kageni

Classic 105’s Maina Kageni come in second. As of May, Kageni was said to earn between Sh1.2 million and Sh1.8 million per month.

Maina clearly knows his cheque better, with his taste in expensive rides, posh house in the United States, and exquisite lifestyle.

3. Churchill

Churchill, his co-host on the morning show, earns slightly more than Sh1 million per month, not including his multimillion Laugh Industry empire.

4. Shaffie Weru

Then there’s Shaffie Weru of Kiss 100, radio’s bad boy. On one occasion, Pulse quoted him as saying, ‘I get a lot of money.’ It’s prize money.’ Enough of that.

His salary reportedly puts him in the’million a month club,’ and he has stated that he is one of Kenya’s top 15 earners.

5. Mbusii

Then comes Daniel Githinji Mwangi alias Mbusii, who waltzes in. According to reports, the Radio Jambo reggae host’s package is worth more than Sh750,000.

The Mbusii na Lion teketeke host is a force to be reckoned with in Kenyan reggae circles, having turned down several offers to switch stations.
