Woman who reportedly died in hospital giving birth in 2018 resurfaces on the streets, seeking a way back home

Startling reports from Tanzania’s neighboring country have surfaced, revealing a perplexing case of a woman declared dead in 2018 while in a maternity ward and subsequently laid to rest, only to astonish many by reappearing alive on the streets.

The incident, which sparked apprehension among the residents of the Kigoma region, prompted the country’s police force to step in and provide clarification.

As per Ayo TV’s broadcasted information, the woman, who supposedly succumbed to death in October 2018 at the age of 40 while giving birth at Baptiste Hospital in Kigoma Ujiji municipality, was allegedly sighted on the streets in November of the current year. She was interred in the vicinity of her residence.

Addressing the unusual situation, the local police commander, Filemon Makungu, verified the incident and pointed out that this isn’t the first occurrence where someone believed to be buried has surfaced alive.

Commander Makungu stated, “There are reports of two incidents where individuals are alleged to have… not resurrected!… but have been seen alive despite being reported dead. We have thoroughly investigated both cases and are awaiting scientific confirmation. Samples have been dispatched to the laboratory, but results are pending. Once received, I will furnish comprehensive information.”

This peculiar resurrection-like event is not unprecedented in the country’s media reports. Earlier in August, a parallel incident unfolded in the Katavi region, involving a 33-year-old woman purportedly deceased in 2018, seeking directions to return home in August 2023.

“Five years later, she was spotted alive at a water collection point, adorned in the very clothes she was buried in. This occurrence transpired in the Katavi region,” as reported by Ayo TV.
