A woman living with HIV has opened up about the emotional struggles that come with dating while managing the condition.
According to her, one of the most difficult experiences for people living with HIV is finding love. Many fear rejection and stigma after disclosing their status, which can lead to emotional isolation.
She added that it becomes even harder when someone falls for a partner who is HIV-negative. The fear of judgment and discrimination can be overwhelming.
However, she emphasized the importance of self-love. “Before allowing anyone else to love us, we must first love ourselves deeply,” she said.
Loving oneself, she explained, means strictly following treatment, eating nutritious meals, managing stress, practicing safety in relationships, and being responsible in all areas of life.
Her message to others living with HIV was simple but powerful: “Normalize self-love. You deserve care, happiness, and a healthy life.”
