Wakili Kyalo Mbobu: Funeral Plans for Slain City Lawyer finally Announced

The family, friends, and legal fraternity are preparing to bid farewell to Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, the Nairobi-based lawyer who was brutally murdered earlier this month. His death, marked by violence and mystery, has left a dark cloud hanging over the city’s legal community.

According to the family, a series of mourning sessions have been scheduled to allow loved ones to pay their last respects. Prayers and vigils will begin at All Saints Cathedral and later continue at his Karen residence, where relatives and colleagues are gathering daily.

The main funeral service will be held at St. John’s the Evangelist Church on Lang’ata South Road, with hundreds expected to attend in a show of solidarity and remembrance. Thereafter, Mbobu will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony, with only close relatives in attendance.

Mbobu’s sudden and tragic death has shaken many. He was reportedly shot multiple times while driving home, and the post-mortem revealed that he succumbed to excessive bleeding caused by the gunshot wounds. His family describes him as a dedicated husband and father, survived by his wife, Anne Mwende, and their three children.

Colleagues in the legal profession remember him as a sharp mind, a principled advocate, and a mentor to younger lawyers. Many have condemned the attack, calling it not only a personal tragedy for his family but also a blow to the wider justice system.

As final preparations are made for his burial, Kenyans continue to demand answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. For now, the focus remains on honoring his memory and standing with his family during this difficult time.
