Kenyans have taken to social media to share images and videos of a remarkable penthouse that has been constructed atop an apartment building in Zimmerman, situated behind the Airport Tanners area. This penthouse, named Bradijon Mansion, has generated a wide range of reactions among social media users, with some hailing its design as a stroke of genius, while others have expressed concerns regarding the safety of the tenants residing in the building.
Mrs. Ennie Lumbasi, who currently resides in the United States, revealed that she conceived the idea of constructing both apartments and a penthouse on the same structure. She shared her vision with her builder, who assured her of its feasibility, estimated the construction timeline, and outlined the necessary materials required for the project. Notably, the contractor, Steven Wangeci, possesses over 25 years of experience in the construction industry.
Explaining her vision, Mrs. Lumbasi stated, “I had only one plot of land, and to make the most of the space available, I proposed building a house on top and apartments below.”
The construction of the house and penthouse took a total of four years to complete, with the project incurring costs amounting to millions of shillings. The mansion boasts four bedrooms and offers a unique architectural marvel to the area.
The building itself accommodates a total of 40 bedsitters, all of which have been occupied since their availability. Despite initial concerns from prospective tenants about security due to the location, those who have moved in have shown no desire to relocate. Mrs. Lumbasi shared in an interview with a local blog, “When prospective tenants inquired about the building, they had concerns about various aspects, including security given the location. However, once they settled in, they have expressed a strong reluctance to move elsewhere.”
Interestingly, Mrs. Lumbasi’s connection to Zimmerman played a significant role in her decision to invest in the area. Having grown up in Zimmerman, she was inspired to purchase property there, allowing her to remain close to her childhood home while undertaking this impressive construction project.
