Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has come out strongly to defend her husband following remarks attributed to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In a fiery response, Kihika questioned why her spouse was being dragged into political disputes, emphasizing that he holds no public office and therefore has no authority over state agencies.
Addressing the matter publicly, Kihika dismissed suggestions that her husband could influence or direct police operations, stating that he is a civilian with no mandate to interfere in government functions. She also appeared to criticize what she described as political propaganda, warning against what she termed baseless accusations.
In her remarks, the governor cautioned Gachagua against involving her family in political disagreements, asserting that such claims risk escalating tensions unnecessarily. She stressed that personal attacks and unfounded allegations detract from substantive political debate.
The exchange highlights growing friction among political leaders as alignments and rivalries continue to shape the national conversation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Observers note that as political competition intensifies, family members of public figures sometimes become subjects of controversy, further complicating an already charged environment.
As of now, Gachagua has not issued a direct response to Kihika’s latest remarks. The situation underscores the increasingly heated tone of political discourse in the country.
