Residents of Gatunduguru village in Murang’a County are grappling with shock after a mother and her son were arrested for allegedly killing a close relative.
The tragic event unfolded on Saturday when the victim’s lifeless body was discovered in his bed. According to police reports, the man was brutally beaten to death by the mother and son, who had accused him of stealing household items.
Initial investigations indicate that the incident stemmed from a family dispute. During a heated argument, the victim reportedly broke a window, escalating the confrontation. The altercation intensified, leading to the victim being bludgeoned with a stick.
The crime’s disturbing nature has left the community in disbelief, particularly since the mother and son were both implicated in the violent act. Authorities have detained the suspects at Muthithi Police Station, where they remain as investigations continue. The police plan to present them in court once the inquiry is complete.
Neighbors are expressing their shock and disbelief, describing the family as quiet and unassuming. One neighbor remarked, “It’s hard to believe something like this could happen in our village. They seemed like ordinary people, but you never know what happens behind closed doors.”
