Residents of Kiganjo Wandutu village in Gatundu South were left stunned after a man, identified as Julius Mbogo, was buried in an unusually swift ceremony lasting barely 15 minutes.
The abrupt burial broke away from long-held Kenyan traditions, where funerals are typically marked by extended family gatherings, prayers, and rituals to honor the dead.
Sources close to the family revealed that the hasty send-off was fueled by a bitter inheritance feud. Tensions reportedly flared after Mbogo’s death when his second wife sought full control of his properties—moves that threatened to disinherit the children of his first wife.
In an alleged bid to secure her claim, the second wife is said to have pushed for an immediate burial, leaving no time for the first wife’s family to intervene or lay their own claim to the estate.
When the body arrived at the homestead, there were no prayers, no public mourning, and no traditional rites. Within minutes, the coffin was lowered into the grave, leaving relatives and neighbors in shock.
Many mourners expressed sadness that they were denied a chance to pay their last respects, calling the incident a tragic departure from the community’s cultural values.
