‘Unapiga Polisi KIJANAAA…?’ Kenyans Shocked As Man Punches Police Officer After Traffic Incident

A shocking video depicting a man audaciously assaulting a uniformed police officer has stirred disbelief among Kenyans. The footage, shared on platform X, unveils a brief altercation between a group of men and a police officer who seems to be walking away from the confrontation.

Amid the rising tension, a voice from the onlooking crowd can be heard imploring, ‘sameheaneni bana’ (forgive each other), indicating the escalating tempers. Disregarding the plea, an individual, presumably the driver of a BMW, approaches with visible anger, declaring, “Hakuna kusameheana hapa” (there’s no forgiveness here).

As the confrontation intensifies, a man clad in a red hoodie and blue jeans confronts the officer, stating, “We unaingilia…” before delivering a forceful punch directly to the officer’s face. Caught off guard, the police officer loses his headgear in the violent scuffle.

A chorus of disapproval erupts from the bystanders as they converge on the aggressor, attempting to push him back and defuse the situation. Meanwhile, the officer, still in disbelief, repeatedly questions, “Unanipiga?” (Are you hitting me?) as he approaches the irate driver.

Shortly after, an Administration Police vehicle arrives on the scene, and additional officers move swiftly to apprehend the assailant. From the unfolding events and the narrative, it appears that the man driving the BMW was involved in a collision with a boda boda rider, evident from a fallen motorbike a few meters away.

While the identity of the assailant and the specific location of the incident remain undisclosed, Kenyans have united in condemning the individual for his blatant attack on a police officer. Social media users express their disbelief and concern, with one individual stating, “For the first time, I support a police officer.”

Reflecting on the incident, another user remarks, “Punching a police officer? In Kenya? I don’t know what to call this. It’s definitely not the bravery he thought it is. This is nothing less than a nightmare about to unfold. He’s doomed for life!”

Addressing the unusual alliance between the police and boda boda riders in this instance, a perceptive observer notes, “A rare occasion of nduthi guys siding with the police. This video shows, Kenyans don’t hate the Police… Kenyans are always hating the institutionalized police corruption, the illogical reasoning of some officers, the extortion, and their disregard for the rights of mwananchi…”

This incident bears a resemblance to a previous occurrence in March 2022 when a seemingly intoxicated motorist assaulted a police officer inspecting an accident. The officer, identified as Mark Muriira, was fortunately assisted by passing police officers alerted by boda boda riders, preventing further escalation.
