Meru Senator Mithika Linturi was on Tuesday accused of attempting to rape a wedded lady in a hotel room.
The lady had accused the Senator of slipping into her bed and attempting to sleep with her.
In the charge sheet, Linturi is denounced that on January 30, 2021, at around 3 am at Maiyan villas in Nanyuki, he deliberately and unlawfully tried to rape the 36-year-woman without her assent.
Linturi faced one more count of revoltingly touching the lady without her consent on the same dates and spot.
He denied the charges before Milimani justice Martha Nanzushi and pleaded for leniency bond terms.
The court delivered him on a cash bail of Sh200, 000 or a bond of Sh500, 000.
The case will be referenced on October 26 2021.
