President Ruto forms team to address concerns raised by former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s office

President William Ruto has established a team to address concerns raised by former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office. This decision followed a meeting between President Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta on the morning of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, which was prompted by issues highlighted by Kanze Dena, the director of communications at Uhuru Kenyatta’s office, on Monday, June 10.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed announced on his X account that the team, led by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, will address all the raised concerns, including the location of the retired President’s office and the necessary staff arrangements.

“President Ruto has consequently constituted a team, led by the Head of Public Service, to immediately address all the issues raised, including the location of the retired President’s office and the attendant staff establishment,” Hussein Mohammed stated.

During a press briefing on Monday, Kanze Dena reported that Uhuru Kenyatta was provided with old vehicles and a fuel card that was later deactivated. She denied claims that Uhuru had a fully furnished office and brand-new cars funded by the State.

Additionally, Kanze Dena clarified that no repairs had been made to the office. “On the issue of the retired President enjoying a fully furnished and maintained office space as alluded to in the statement, this took us by surprise because it is public knowledge that State House has been very clear on the position of the office in Nyari as the only office that the President should use based on the fact the office has been bought by the government,” she said.

These statements came in response to recent allegations by government spokesperson Hussein Mohammed that the former Head of State had new cars and a well-furnished office.
