Kate Actress and Phil Karanja have become the talk of the town since the announcement of their separation.
On September 19th, in a joint statement posted on social media, Kate and Phil disclosed their decision to part ways. While it came as news to the public, the couple revealed that they had actually divorced some time ago but had chosen to keep it private.
“We made the decision to end our marriage a while back, and we have been living separately. We kindly request that everyone respects our request for privacy, both for us and our children,” their statement read.
Kate also posted another message to clarify their stance:
“It was never a secret; we simply chose to keep it out of the public eye. To all our cherished fans, we appreciate your support throughout the years.”
Phil emphasized that their separation was amicable and that they would continue to work together.
“This is a matter between the two of us, but we ask you to join us in allowing us to move forward with our lives with as few complications as possible. Kate and I remain friends, co-parents, and business partners.”
A day prior to announcing their separation, Phil shared a picture of a car he had previously gifted Kate for her birthday. The image featured Phil in a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans standing next to a dark BMW X3 valued at approximately KSh 3.5 million.
The renowned director had presented Kate with the vehicle in January 2020, just a month after they welcomed their child.
Kate had given birth to their child in December 2019, and she celebrated the event with gratitude: “Every effort has its reward. God says, ‘Try me! Do your part!’ Mama K 2020, let’s embark on this journey.”
In November 2022, the couple appeared to be in good spirits as they celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary. Kate expressed her appreciation for their journey:
