NIBS Founder Liz Wanyoike to be laid at ex-husband home

On January 14, 2024, Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike, the visionary force behind the Nairobi Institute of Technology and Business Studies (NITBS), passed away at the age of 73.

In 1999, Lizzie Wanyoike founded NITBS, previously known as the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies. Under her guidance, the institution thrived, evolving into one of Kenya’s foremost hospitality colleges, accommodating over 7,000 students enrolled in various professional courses.

Strategically positioned in Thika Town, Nairobi CBD, Ruiru – Kimbo (headquarters), and Ongata Rongai, NITBS became synonymous with delivering top-notch education in the hospitality sector.

Beyond her impactful contributions to the realm of education, Lizzie Wanyoike was a shrewd entrepreneur who explored diverse business sectors, including investments in education, real estate, and land.

In the 25 years following her separation from her late ex-husband, Mr. Mburu Wanyoike, she transformed her endeavors into a billion-dollar empire.

Despite their parting ways in 1997, Lizzie consistently emphasized that their separation stemmed from divergent investment perspectives rather than emotional differences.

The funeral arrangements for Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike are scheduled for January 23, 2024, at her ex-husband’s hometown.

Before the funeral, prayers will be held in Garden Estate, Oaklane, commencing from January 16, 2024.

A memorial service is also slated for January 18, 2024, at the ACK St. Joseph of Arimathea, Thome Estate, offering an opportunity for friends, family, and colleagues to pay their respects.
