Popular content creator Mitchelle Joyce Akoth Oruko, better known as Mjaka Mfine, has shared her harrowing ordeal after falling victim to a brazen daylight robbery in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
Speaking during an interview on Milele FM with host Tony Mwirigi, Mjaka revealed that a gang of thieves snatched her human hair wig worth KSh17,000.
“Human hair inaanza na KSh15K and above. Yangu ilikuwa KSh17K,” she lamented, adding that the attack happened so fast she did not even get a chance to call for help.
Rising Wave of Muggings in CBD
The incident underscores growing fears over a resurgence of mugging gangs in Nairobi’s city center. Reports indicate that criminals are targeting pedestrians along Moi Avenue, Kimathi Street, and areas near popular eateries.
The gangs are said to use intimidation, deception, and in some cases, threats of smearing victims with human waste. Other reports suggest that unsuspecting targets are occasionally drugged before being robbed.
Public Outcry
The boldness of these crimes, often committed in broad daylight, has sparked outrage among city residents. Many are now urging security agencies to step up patrols and restore a sense of safety in the CBD.
