Residents of Githurai, Nairobi, have been left in deep shock after a 25-year-old woman was found dead inside her rented bedsitter.
The woman, identified as Gloria Kwamboka Angwenyi, was discovered in the bathroom, with a blue bedsheet tied around her neck. She had reportedly not been seen for two days, raising concern among friends and neighbours who noticed her phone was off and calls were going unanswered.
When they visited her home, they found the door locked from the inside. Police officers, assisted by neighbours, forced their way in. Inside, they found a note believed to contain her final words, though authorities have not disclosed its contents as investigations continue.
Her body was moved to the mortuary, where an autopsy will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
Detectives are now piecing together Gloria’s last known movements and gathering information from those close to her to determine whether she had shown any signs of distress before the incident.
The tragedy has sparked renewed conversations within the community about mental health, emotional well-being, and the pressure many young people silently battle. Local leaders have urged residents to support one another, check in on friends and family, and encourage open discussions about personal struggles.
Police are urging anyone with additional information to assist with the investigation.
