Murang’a University comrades have issued a one week ultimatum to food vendors better know as (Vibandasky, Kwa Mathee), to lower the Chapati prices from Ksh 20 to Ksh 10.
The comrades who were speaking to our correspondent in Murang’a town said that the vendors are taking advantage of the high numbers of students hence increasing the rates.
The students said that they will boycott the food joints if at all the vendors will not reduce the price with immediate effect.
Taking to their Campuses’ Facebook page, the comrades stated that the vendors should reduce the size and maintain the price to its normal Sh 10.
“Comrades circular is clear, no purchasing of Chapos around the school unless the vendors reduce the price to 10 bob,” one of the students posted.
Whether the vendors will reduce the price or not, only time will tell. Otherwise, comrades will continue with their purported hunger strike.
