Mum Itika Tu Mara Moja Ya Mwisho” – Two Little Sisters Cry Beside Their Mother’s Grave After Coptic Junction Tragedy

Grief has no language, yet on this day, it spoke loudly through the tears of two little sisters who sat quietly by the grave of their late mother. Their tiny voices, trembling and soaked in pain, could be heard whispering the words: “Mum itika tu mara moja ya mwisho.”

Their mother was among the 26 mourners who tragically lost their lives in the grisly road accident at Coptic Junction along the Kisumu–Kakamega Highway. Families were left shattered, dreams cut short, and children orphaned in an instant. But nothing painted the weight of this loss more vividly than the sight of these two young girls clinging to the fresh soil that now covered their beloved mum.

They cried helplessly, as if hoping that somehow their cries could bridge the gap between life and death—if only their mother would answer one last time. It was a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life is, and how cruel tragedy can be to those left behind.

As mourners stood by, many were moved to tears. The sorrow was not just about losing a mother, but about seeing innocence suffer—seeing two children too young to fully understand why their source of comfort, love, and guidance would never come back.

The accident that claimed 26 lives has left a scar not only on the victims’ families but on the entire nation. It has forced us to reflect on the value of road safety, the unpredictability of life, and the need for communities to rally behind those who have lost the most.

For these two sisters, the road ahead will be long and heavy. But in the midst of their pain, they need one thing above all—comfort, love, and strength from the society around them.
