Kenyan musician Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has stirred mixed emotions on social media due to her fashion style while performing in front of her fans in Stockholm, Sweden, over the weekend.
On Monday evening, the 43-year-old artist shared some pictures with her online fans while performing on stage in that European country, where she was seen wearing a controversial black outfit that barely covered the upper part of her body.
Before online users could even comment on those photos, which were undoubtedly expected to draw various opinions, Akothee used the caption of the post to defend herself and make it clear that she is not a role model for anyone.
“This is AKOTHEE THE ARTIST. A singer, entertainer, and not your kind of role model. Akothee, the artist, has a different target market today. Keep your mouth where your money is. With the most sought-after DJ Ike. SWEDEN was on FIRE. Thank you very much. NEXT STEP,” Akothee commented under the pictures.
Some Kenyans who shared their opinions appeared to be dissatisfied with the singer’s outfit and criticized her for it, while others seemed to defend her, saying that international athletes and other famous individuals also entertain wearing revealing outfits and are not judged for it.
