Gospel artist Mercy Masika recently spoke out about the need for Kenyans to focus on the positive things in their country, rather than the negative. Masika, who has traveled to many African countries, believes that Kenyans are blessed in many ways, but they fail to see it due to the media’s focus on negative issues in society.
During an interview with Masawe Jappani on Radio Jambo, Masika dismissed claims that the gospel music industry in Kenya is fading. She believes that there is greater liberation in gospel music now than ever before, despite some perceived relaxation in the industry.
Regarding Eric Omondi’s recent controversial remarks about gospel artists, Masika agreed with some of his points but felt that the comedian could have been more loving in his approach towards certain artists.
Masika’s message is clear: Kenyans need to appreciate the good things in their country and focus on the positive, rather than the negative.
