Drama unfolded outside Nairobi’s Milimani Law Courts on November 29, 2023, as law enforcement detained a well-known celebrity, Robert Budi, and his wife Wendy Kimingi in connection with a child molestation incident that allegedly transpired at the Karen Plains estate in Lang’ata.
In an unexpected turn of events, the robust bodybuilder, actor, and media personality, Robert Budi, resisted police officers attempting to apprehend him for allegedly violating a child’s rights. The arrest of Budi and Kimingi took place outside the High Court, and they are scheduled to face charges at the Kibera Law Courts.
Despite a struggle, police ultimately subdued Budi, placing him in handcuffs before transporting him to Karen Police Station for detention pending court arraignment. Budi, dressed in a white T-shirt, green trousers, and white canvas shoes, concealed his face—presumably in shame—while being escorted away from the court premises.
This dramatic arrest unfolded shortly after Budi and Wendy had concluded a court appearance. Notably, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had been actively pursuing the couple in connection with the child molestation case.
The charges against Budi and Kimingi include cruelty to a child, a violation of Section 25 of the Children Act number 29 of 2022. According to the police, the alleged incidents occurred between October 22, 2022, and February 10, 2023, within the Karen Plains in Lang’ata sub-county, Nairobi.
The accused are slated to appear in court on November 30, 2023. Robert Budi, recognized for winning the 2018 Mr. Kenya title at a vibrant gala event in Westlands’ The Mall, has not only excelled as a bodybuilder but has also made a name for himself as a prominent TV host and actor. His notable role as Trevor in Citizen TV’s soap opera “Maria” attests to his diverse talents in the entertainment industry.
