Having invested heavily in his relationship with Aisha, Selemen Hussein found himself abandoned and impoverished, forced to resort to collecting and selling plastic bottles to survive.
Hussein’s affection for Aisha ran deep, as he had supported her financially and emotionally throughout her education.
“I sacrificed my cars, land, and businesses to fund her education, provide for her stipend, and settle her financial obligations, but she betrayed me. Aisha, why did you do this to me?” he lamented in an interview with Afrimax English.
His unwavering dedication was met with betrayal when Aisha opted to leave him for another man after he had sponsored her education to pursue studies in Canada.
“I was moved by her plight when she confided in me about her significant financial burden. As a devoted and caring boyfriend, I relinquished my possessions and businesses to assist her, only to be betrayed,” recounted the young man.
Despite facing homelessness and abandonment by both his partner and family, Hussein refused to surrender to despair. Instead, he drew strength from the modest act of collecting and selling plastic bottles to sustain himself.
“My parents had cautioned me about relationships entangled with money. Now, I find myself without shelter or support, abandoned by both my family and my lover. I rely on collecting and selling plastic bottles to earn a living,” shared the Tanzanian with sorrow.
