The video featuring Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Center has ignited a social media storm, as he openly mocks Pastor Ezekiel Odero from New Life Church regarding his recent contribution to the Benny Hinn Crusade. In the viral TikTok clip, Pastor Ng’ang’a humorously requests Pastor Ezekiel to transfer Kshs 1.4 million to his account. This request comes just days after Pastor Ezekiel settled a Kshs 14 million debt related to the Nyayo Stadium 3-day crusade held in February 2024, which featured the presence of American Preacher Benny Hinn.
In the video, Pastor Ng’ang’a, with a sarcastic laugh, questions Pastor Ezekiel, asking if he would die by sharing his wealth. He challenges Pastor Ezekiel’s identity, saying, “Kwani nikikula pesa yako nitakufa? Wewe ni nani? Wewe ni nani? (Will I die if I eat your money? Who are you? Who are you?)”
Moreover, Pastor Ng’ang’a accuses Pastor Ezekiel and other pastors in Kenya of hypocrisy, alleging that they show respect to foreign preachers, compensating them generously, while simultaneously disrespecting local pastors. He expresses this sentiment by saying, “Unawatendea heshima wazungu, unawalipa pesa, lakini unawadharau wachungaji wa Kenya. Wewe ni nani? (You respect the whites, you pay them money, but you look down on Kenyan pastors. Who are you?)”
As of the time of writing, Pastor Ezekiel has not responded to the video or the accusations. Pastor Ezekiel, the founder of New Life Church, boasts a substantial following in Mavueni, Kilifi county. In addition to his pastoral role, he is a prosperous businessman with ownership of various international schools and a TV station. Married to Sarah for 17 years, Pastor Ezekiel remains a figure of interest and scrutiny.
Both Pastor Ng’ang’a and Pastor Ezekiel are prominent and controversial figures in Kenya’s religious landscape, frequently making headlines for their opulent lifestyles and involvement in scandals, including the infamous shakahola deaths case that led to Pastor Ezekiel’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
